Since this morning every role has hands in Todarch (one pool). Work could now move from role to role. What it could not do yet was end.
a pile with no endings
Done and let go are Selim’s alone; no role may close a to-do for him. So a role that finished something wrote “yours to close” in a note and left it there. Counting the real pile made the problem plain: 130 open to-dos in his hands, several of them clearly finished, mixed with ones nobody had started.
In a sister thread Selim had said what he wanted: “I don’t want to mingle in the between steps, but if I start something, I want to be also notified for the end.” And: “if I delegate some things to someone, they can take it over from there and work among themselves. And finally, when that thing is done, it will come back to me.”
an ending is an offer
A study looked for the shape of an ending and found it already in Todarch. A suggestion there is a value offered but not kept: the assistant offers whose hands a to-do is in, and a tap keeps it. Done and let go became two more offers, not a new mechanism.
So the role that holds a to-do now hands it back: done with its result, let go with its reason, or stuck with a question. One push reaches his phone. He answers with one verdict: done, not right (it goes back to the role with his note and is the role’s again), let it go, or keep it (and that role may not offer let go again for a month). Every offer and every answer is kept in the to-do’s history of moves.
The care went into one rule: an offer is never shown as the state. A to-do offered done does not look done until Selim says so.
The steps between roles make no sound; only the end comes back to Selim, as an offer he keeps or sends back.
a place called for me
The endings needed a place to wait. Todarch got one at its top, for me: what roles offered as done, what they offered to let go, and what they ask. Each says who handed it back and since when, and each answer is one tap.
The words reached the company before the code reached the app. Its docs now say that every role hands its endings back this way, and the assistant sweeps Selim’s hands once a day for up to five to-dos it can show are finished or gone, the evidence as the link. The old way stayed written beside the new one until the backend reached the live app.
